We live in a society where everybody is selling us joy. Some are selling it as religion while others are spending billions to advertise that joy can be found in things or experiences. Yet, when we look at the life and teachings of the apostle Paul in his letter to the Philippian church we find where true and lasting joy can be found in God's Word.
Over the next few months we working our way through the book of Philippians to discover that there is true joy and that as followers of Jesus this joy is not normal happiness. Happiness is dependant on what is going on around you ... if things are going well I can be pretty happy. What about when things aren't going well? What happens when there is hurt, sickness, relational struggle, financial strain, opposition, doubt, exhaustion? It is then that we see that our joy is not normal. It is an uncommon joy ... and is a joy that has a different source.
What we will find is that God's Word shows us that as Christians we have Jesus as our source and hope and life. And in Him we can live with an uncommon joy!
Looking forward to unpacking this book with you all and seeing what God has for us in the upcoming months!!
Living in the grip of God's grace,
Kaj
